The story began in 1996, when Ioannis and Anastasia Drainá founded the winery with a vision to showcase the richness and unique character of the region. Today, the second generation, with Christos Drainá at the helm since 2011, continues this journey with the same passion, developing the estate and its wines into a modern boutique winemaking experience.

The people behind the winery are producers with a genuine passion for the land. They are involved in every stage of the process, from the vineyard and cultivation to the final step of bottling. “This is precisely what gives our wines the quality they are known for,” says Christos Drainá.

Today, the winery’s 150-acre privately owned vineyard benefits from the region’s Mediterranean climate — mild and temperate, with the high altitude helping to protect the vines from extreme heat. These unique conditions allow the winery’s grape varieties to develop their distinctive flavors and aromas.

The vineyard is primarily dedicated to Agiorgitiko, alongside Assyrtiko, Malagousia, Roditis, and Moschofilero — varieties that authentically express the character and identity of the land.

The wines of Drainá Winery can be found in selected fine-dining restaurants, premium wine shops, luxury hotels, and carefully curated delicatessens. In the coming years, the winery aims to expand into new markets, both within Greece and internationally, strengthening its presence and introducing its name to an even wider community of wine lovers.

“What we want,” says Christos Drainá, “is to move forward with consistency and respect for our land, while preserving the authenticity that has defined our estate since the previous generation.”
